NOTICE: IMPORTANT COURT INFORMATION DUE TO COVID-19
Due to the current coronavirus emergency, the normal rules for entering a plea are temporarily changed. The main change is that NO PERSONAL IN-COURT APPEARANCES WILL BE REQUIRED OR PERMITTED FOR APRIL 14, 2020 AND MAY 19, 2020.
Pleas of guilty, not guilty and no contest MUST be entered either via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or regular mail (Cottage Grove Municipal Court, 221 E. Cottage Grove Rd., Cottage Grove WI 53527) on or before May 19.
If you choose to plead not guilty, the court will schedule a telephone pretrial conference with the Cottage Grove village attorney just as if you had appeared in person and entered your plea.
If you wish to enter an appearance and plead guilty or no contest, you should include with your plea a description of any circumstances surrounding your ticket which you would like the court to take into consideration.
If you are a juvenile and wish to plead guilty or no contest, you will in most cases be offered resolution of your ticket via Peer Court.
If you do not want to enter any formal appearance and prefer to dispose of your ticket simply by paying it, you can do so either by mail or online.
If the court does not hear from you at all, you will be found guilty by default.
If you have any questions concerning these temporary procedures, please contact the court either by phone (608-839-8064) or email (email@example.com)
